SOFA & UPHOLSTERY CLEANING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This is a very common question.

If a wool carpet is cleaned correctly, and an inspection of the carpet has taken place, there is no risk of shrinkage.

A professional carpet cleaning company will check that the carpet is fitted and gripped correctly and will be carful not to over-wet the fibres. They should also use wool safe cleaning solutions and set their cleaning machine to the correct psi and temperature.

The potential for damage is negated by choosing a professionally trained and reputable company that understands how to clean a wool carpet.

Definitely not!

The supermarket rental machines simply cannot come close to achieving the same results as professional carpet cleaning machines.

And in addition to the difference in cost, effectiveness and power of the machinery, there is also the question of knowledge and skill.

A professional carpet cleaner is fully trained in safe and effective stain removal and understands how to remove individual stains with the correct equipment and solutions.

It takes the right equipment, training and years of knowledge to attain the best carpet cleaning results.

The cost of a carpet clean will depend on the company you choose to do the work and on the size of your house and rooms.

The price is usually calculated per square meter and it will also depend on the state of your carpet, for example, stains might raise the price of the carpet cleaning.

On average, to clean a standard room costs £30-£50 per room, with a minimum charge of £75-£100. But the quality of the clean varies between suppliers.

The best thing to do is to ask for a price quote that is customised to your needs and to pick a suppliers that will do a great clean for you.

The most common issue with carpet cleaning carried out by part-time cowboys is that the carpets are saturated and take longer than they should to dry. We even use high powered fans to further speed the process!!

We’ve heard many horror stories of carpets taking multiple days to dry, by which point the underlay has been affected and bacteria has proliferated, causing a nasty damp smell!

If, however, the carpet cleaning process is carried out correctly, your carpets will be completely dry in just a few short hours and be left smelling lovely, fresh and clean.

Yes please. We will Vacuum but the more you can leading up to the clean the better. Vacuuming sets the foundations of a good clean and the more dry soil is removed the better. Having a clear canvas to work on allows us to spend more time on the more technical aspects of the clean and getting those results we are known for.

You can steam clean your carpet but this won’t give you the best carpet clean. Steam cleaning solely uses its steam to dislodge any stubborn stains but doesn’t remove any odours.

We use a hot water extraction methods when cleaning your rug. This method includes a using a safe chemical agent to remove the stains and leaves behind a pleasant smell.

Absolutely.

All the cleaning solutions we use are rigorously tested for safety. We have families of our own and what we use in your home we have first used in our own!

We are always careful to extract all cleaning residues out of your carpet fibres during our carpet cleaning process and even reset the PH.

Once we have finished your carpet clean, it is perfectly safe for your pets and children to roll around on your carpets (although you may not be too keen on this idea once you see how clean and fresh they look!)

Yes. We treat a lot of it to!! We use high powered UV light which highlights exact areas where the urine is. This means that we can target our treatment accurately which specifically designed products to break down the urine and cause of odour. With wool carpet as the urine turns from an acid to an alkaline it can actually burn and permanently damage the carpet.

As a general guideline to keep your carpet looking clean and fresh, The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends having your carpet professionally deep-cleaned every 12 to 18 months.

But it all depends circumstances and preferences. If for example you have children or pets in the house, you might have stains that happen more often than in households that don’t have them. In that case a clean every 6 months might be a better option.

We clean carpets using the Hot Water Extraction method. This is the method recommended by the carpet manufacturers as being the most effective way to clean fitted carpets.

Unlike with a dry powder type cleaning process, we clean deep down into the fibres, removing all the grit, soils, bacteria and germs.

It is the best method at getting your carpets truly clean and hygienic! We can also achieve amazing results using rotary machines where dry times are next to nothing.

Definitely! A professional carpet cleaning company has better material and equipment. You could buy this on your own but it would cost you a lot of money. And, working the equipment and knowing the best material to get requires specialists skills.

It’s always a good idea to have a small cleaner or on off the shelf cleaning product at hand for those quick fixes of spills but for a general bigger surface clean, you cant go wrong with a professional coming in to do it for you.
